Kaung Mon Printing Shop Banned

Kaung Mon Printing, a biggest Mon printing shop in Rangoon was closed down on December first week after printed poetry- newsletter for a student group from Rangoon without a permission from Military Government Censorship Department.

Because of printing the newsletter, Kaung Mon Manager and also holds a position of Secretary of Mon Nation Culture and Literature Organisation in Rangoon, Nai Soe Aung and a staff were arrested and all of equipment were seized.

" It was happen after the student who printed the newsletter was arrested. And Nai Soe Aung didn't know it was printed in his shop because of his arrested staff did not told him" but he was arrested because of he is the manager." a source close to him said.

According the source Nai Soe Aung will take to the court and included his staff.

But the printing machine and equipment have returned after the owner Nai Thet Lwin, a former candidate of 1990 election in Mawlamyine took responsibility that they are not going to print documents like this newsletter again.

Kaung Mon Printing Shop is located in Kyeik Ta Dar township, Rangoon and the shop is where Mon people and monks rely on for printing. Kaung Mon also makes a good design for publication.
